Aim

To examine current and forthcoming changes to legislation and best practice that impact on practice, supply of medicines and pharmacy service delivery in Northern Ireland.

Learning outcomes

Having attended this workshop, you will be able to:
  • Outline the key legal requirements and responsibilities related to private services and prescriptions
  • Describe possible forthcoming changes to legislation relating to hub and spoke dispensing and supervision requirements
  • Recognise the potential impact of updated standards for superintendent and responsible pharmacists on pharmacy practice
  • Explain the key legal requirements relating to prescribing and the elements of prescribing governance, including prescribing safely and professionally
