1. What do I need to do if I am interested in applying for any of the workshops listed?
If you are interested in attending a workshop, simply apply on-line or complete one of the application forms at the back of this brochure and post it, freepost, to NICPLD.
2. What happens next?
Your application is processed and you will receive a letter from NICPLD approximately 3 weeks before the workshop date that will state whether or not you have been successful in securing a place.
As workshops have a limited number of places, once these are filled your name will be added to a waiting list. If anyone withdraws from the workshop, a place will be offered to the next pharmacist on the waiting list.
If you apply after the closing date and do not receive a letter from NICPLD, it is your responsibility to contact the centre to determine if you have secured a place at the workshop.
4. What happens if I simply turn up for a workshop?
Due to the fact that a limited number of places are available, pharmacists who simply turn up at a workshop without having been officially offered a place, either verbally or in writing, will not be able to participate.
5. What happens if I need to withdraw from a workshop? If you notify us at least 3 working days before the workshop date, your place can then be offered to someone else and no cost is incurred. If notification is received closer to the workshop date, then a non-attendance cost will be charged to you. Notification can be via telephone but MUST be followed by a written form of notification i.e. fax, e-mail or letter.
6. How can I complete the multiple-choice questions (MCQs) relating to a workshop?
It is not necessary to complete the MCQs relating to a workshop but you may choose to do so as part of your continuing professional development. You may either complete the MCQs on-line or alternatively you may complete the paper copy of the MCQs distributed at the workshop and post this to NICPLD.
7. Is there any restriction on who can apply for distance learning courses? No. Distance learning courses are available to all pharmacists, including pre-registration students.
8. What do I need to do if I want to apply for a distance learning course?
If you are interested in a distance learning course, simply complete one of the application forms at the back of this brochure and post or fax to NICPLD. Alternatively you may apply on-line in the courses section.
9. How many distance learning courses can I apply for at a time? You may apply for one course at a time. However, there is no limit to the number of courses you can study in a year.
10. How many hours does it take to complete a distance learning course?
Depending on the course, the time required to complete a distance learning course ranges from 2–21 hours. Times for individual courses are shown in the course summaries in the brochure and in the courses section of our website.
11. Over what time-period should I allow myself to complete a distance learning course? We would suggest that you set yourself a target of completing the course within 8 weeks. Experience shows that participants who take longer than this are less likely to complete the course.
12. Is there any restriction on who can apply for distance learning courses?
No. Distance learning courses are available to all pharmacists, including pre-registration students.
