Aim
To develop the competence of pharmacists to optimise the use of medicines commonly prescribed for older people.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workshop you should be able to:

• describe the general guidelines that must be considered when prescribing for older patients
• acknowledge the importance of deprescribing where appropriate
• appreciate the management of conditions commonly seen in this patient group
• promote interventions to reduce the incidence of falls
• introduce strategies to improve adherence with prescribed medication
