Aim
By the interpretation of laboratory tests, to enable pharmacists to monitor patients and making appropriate recommendations regarding therapy.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workshop you should be able to:

• appreciate the function of, and interpret the significance of, electrolyte levels in the body
• understand and interpret simple haematological tests
• describe how to treat anaemia
• interpret relevant laboratory values relating to kidney function
• identify patients at risk of acute kidney injury
• discuss drug dosing in patients with kidney dysfunction
• understand and interpret LFTs.

For whom
For those pharmacist who work as practice-based pharmacist and have had limited experience of interpreting laboratory tests to make decisions about choice of therapy for adult patients.
