Aim
To provide an update on the latest evidence relating to the management of Type 2 diabetes.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workshop you should be able to:

• list the priorities and current best practice for the management of patients with Type 2 diabetes
• summarise the management of cardiovascular risk factors associated with diabetes
• consider optimal management of hyperglycaemia, including the role of the newer agents and the NICE guidance around these drugs
• identify the key educational messages to be shared with patients
• review the use of glucometers, test strips, needles and lancets in patients with Type 2 diabetes in line with regional guidance
• work with other healthcare professionals to change current practice in respect of new evidence.

For whom
All pharmacists, GPs or nurse prescribers who prescribe or inform the prescribing of drugs for the management of Type 2 diabetes.

Please note that the ACP workshops are half day sessions and will run in the morning (10am - 1pm) and in the afternoon (2pm-5pm) at each venue. In total, there are eight ACP: Type 2 diabetes workshops on offer. Please take care to ensure that you apply for the session that you wish to attend.
