Aim
By developing knowledge of the management of diabetes, to equip pharmacists to optimise medicines usage in patients with the condition.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workhop you should be able to:

• distinguish between type 1 and type 2 diabetes
• describe best practice in the management of patients with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes
• understand the rationale for the prescribing of certain regimens for different patients
• advise patients regarding the effective monitoring of their diabetic control
• recommend appropriate measures to minimise risk and complications associated with their condition.
