Aim
To provide an overview of the evidence-based management of common infections in primary care, focusing on respiratory tract and urinary tract infections.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workshop you should be able to:

• understand the public health issues around infections and antibiotics, e.g. resistance and healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) in relation to antibiotic use
• target the prescribing of antibiotics to those who are most likely to benefit
• employ strategies to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing
• treat infections in line with the Northern Ireland antimicrobial guidelines for primary care
• be aware of the resources available from PHA/HSCB for the management of infections in primary care.

Please note that the ACP workshops are half day sessions and will run on the morning (10am - 1pm) and in the afternoon (2pm - 5pm) at each venue. In total, there are ten ACP: Antimicrobial workshops on offer. Please take care to ensure that you apply for the session that you wish to attend.
