Aim
This course aims to summarise information on the newer drug treatments of hyperglycaemia in people with type 2 diabetes, in the context of the recent NICE guidance.

Intended learning outcomes
After completing this course you should be able to:

• Outline the drug management of diabetes using Thiazolidnediones, Gliptins, GLP-1 analogues and Postprandial glucose regulators.
• Discuss the role of self monitoring of blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes
