Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this course you should be able to:

• describe the risk factors associated with the development of wounds and how these can minimised
• recognise the most commonly encountered wounds and factors that promote their healing
• identify the functions and characteristics of an 'ideal dressing'
• review the presentation, indications and methods of use for each dressing type
• demonstrate optimal wound healing through the appropriate and rational choice of dressing.
