Aim
To help pharmacists to enhance the quality of their consultations with patients thus ensuring a positive outcome to the consultation for both the patient and the pharmacist.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workshop you should be able to:

• identify the positive benefits associated with good communication skills
• list the different consultation skills models that can be used during a patient consultation
• effectively read and interpret both the verbal and the non-verbal communication messages
• use appropriate questioning techniques and active listening strategies
• tailor information specifically to the needs of the patient.
