Aim
To provide an overview of the current evidence within the area of cardiovasculr disease, focusing on the management of atrial fibrillation and heart failure, and the application of this evidence practice.

Intended learning outcomes
Having completed this workshop you will be able to:

• discuss the importance of detection and diagnosis of atrial fibrillation in patients
• use the CHADS risk stratification scoring system for assessing stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation
• discuss the suitabililty of anti-thrombotic therapy for individual patients
imptove the quality of care provided to patients with heart failure
• apply the evidence from drug trials to the pharmacological management of heart failure patients
• work with other healthcare professionals to change current practice in respect of new evidence.

For whom
All pharmacists, GPs or practice based nurses who prescribe or inform the prescribing of drugs for cardiovascular disease.

Additional information
Please note that the ACP workshops are half day sessions and will run in the morning (10am-1pm) and in the afternoon (2pm-5pm) at each venue. In total, there are eight ACP: Cardiovascular disease workshops on offer. Please take care to ensure that you apply for the session that you wish to attend.
