Julie Jordan was appointed as part-time Coordinator of Education and Training for Pharmacy Technicians in Northern Ireland in January 2003. Since taking up her post Julie has successfully completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Training as well as becoming an assessor and verifier to assist with the NVQ process in Northern Ireland. Her role has developed within the last year as a full time post to include the support of the NVQ process in Northern Ireland. Previously Julie trained and worked in the Royal Victoria Hospital; she became a senior technician in 1990 with ward services and assisted in the dispensary. At NICPLD Julie has been involved with the delivery and development of the Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) programme and has worked with the lead regional pharmacists to develop medicines management training and accreditation, the Patient’s Own Drugs Checking Programme and Aseptic Checking for Pre and In-process aseptic products to be introduced in Northern Ireland in 2009. Julie participates in a number of national committees including the NHS Pharmacy Education Development Committee and the Skills for Health steering group on the NVQs successor qualification. Julie was awarded a fellowship by the Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APT) for her support over the previous twenty-five years and has bee appointed to APT’s National Officer’s Board as fellow representative. |
